Alka Mehta Bokaria is a Partner at VNA Partners with over a decade of experience in media, entertainment, and intellectual property law. Her practice spans content licensing, music and podcast rights, trademark prosecution, copyright advisory, and general commercial matters. She works closely with creators, production houses, broadcasters, digital platforms, start-ups, and consumer brands, advising them on rights protection, licensing strategies, and compliance across the content lifecycle.
Alka’s work is deeply rooted in the practical realities of the creative and business ecosystem. She regularly negotiates and drafts complex agreements relating to syndication, acquisition, licensing, and distribution across multiple platforms, while also advising on rights management and regulatory considerations. Her experience includes setting up new business verticals in music and podcasting, overseeing large-scale distribution strategies, and managing end-to-end legal frameworks for films, music, and branded content.

Professional Experience
Alka has advised a broad range of stakeholders across the media and creative industries.
She has previously worked with Culver Max Entertainment (Sony Pictures Networks India), where she advised on content licensing, music, podcast, and distribution matters. As part of the team that set up the podcast division, she drafted and negotiated syndication, acquisition, distribution, and music licence agreements, and supported rights management, content distribution, and compliance processes.
She has also worked with TMT Law Practice, advising on media, entertainment, and technology law, including drafting and negotiating production, talent, and vendor agreements, preparing legal opinions and notices, and managing trademark prosecution for e-commerce brands.
Her experience includes working with Soham Rockstar Entertainment, where she assisted in establishing the music division, negotiated artist and distribution agreements, conducted rights due diligence, and supported production planning for films.
In addition, Alka has engaged in independent legal practice, handling trademark prosecution, negotiating IP and property-related agreements, managing legal affairs for a regional film including its OTT sale, and advising start-ups. Earlier in her career, she worked with firms including Suresh & Co., G.S. Rijhwani & Co., Neolegal Associates, Siddhartha Shah & Associates, A. Bharat & Co., and PDS Legal, gaining exposure across trademark, corporate, and commercial matters.
